    Jer. 18:1-6 NKJV reads:
1  The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:  2  "Arise and go down to the
potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear My words."  3  Then I went down to the
potter's house, and there he was, making something at the wheel.  4  And the vessel that he
made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it
seemed good to the potter to make.

5  Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:  6  "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as
the potter?" says the Lord.  "Look, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O
    house of Israel!

Now imagine...I am sitting on a shelf watching a potter (my creator) mold and shape an ugly and lumpy
piece of clay.  Watching closely, I wait for Him to realize how worthless this piece is.  He couldn't possibly
make anything useful out of it.  But after a while, He proudly displays a glazed vase, with astonishing
beauty! I become sad and envious.  How can something so marred and unattractive become so
    extravagant?

Next, He reaches for me.  I am ashamed, because I have been broken into several pieces.  People have
felt sorry for me, and tried to glue me back together, but for some reason, I continue to fall apart.  I am
missing pieces, and my color is dull.  No one wants to display me on their shelf.  I've been passed
around from house to house, but I cannot find acceptance.  Can the potter really help me?  Can He really
turn me into something beautiful to display?

Yes, He can!  In *Jude 24, Christ promises to present us faultless before the presence of His Father with
exceeding joy!  Christ would never proudly present something to His Father that was broken or
discolored.  This is why He is the potter and we are the clay (*Is 64:8).  He takes us just as we are now
(unclean, broken, angry, lonely, unfaithful, distrusting, bitter, etc) and gladly reworks us into a spotless
creation.  A creation that is whole and complete in Him (*Acts 4:10).

According to *Romans 3:23, we all need to be reshaped by the Master's hand in order to be the church
that He desires (*Eph 5:27).  So if you look at your life and you see irremovable scars and broken
pieces, the potter's house is the best place to be!  "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jer 29:11)
Now may the God of peace Himself santify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and
body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thes 5:23).

I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!

    God Bless,
Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray
