Have you ever been caught in a rainstorm? What is usually the first reaction? To find shelter-a warm, dry, secure place that will protect us from the raging winds and the relentless rain. Shouldn't we have the same reaction when a storm brews in our lives? Shouldn't we run to God, who is our shelter? David says in Ps 91:2 NKJV, I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." What happens while I'm in the shelter? I can see the rain run down the windows, yet I do not get wet. I can hear the raindrops on the roof, but I am not affected. The lights may flicker, but in Him will I trust! The wind may howl, but my faith is not shaken! Why? Because I am warm, dry, and secure. He is my refuge, and my fortress. I know that the One who holds me can rebuke the storm at any moment (*Lk 8:24-25). Therefore, I am at peace. When everything else around me is in an uproar, I choose peace. When the thunder echoes throughout my life, I choose peace. When lightening threatens to illuminate my past, I choose peace. Why? Because He's never failed me! Shelters are built to keep everything that is harmful on the outside. God will protect you from the storm. Will you trust Him? Then run to Him. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray Additional Scriptures NKJV Lk 8:24-25 24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 But He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, "Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him!" Ps 107:29 He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. |
