(Shelter from the Storm cont'd) Have you ever noticed that whenever we get into a tight situation, we tend to think that God is picking on us? "Smite me, O, mighty Smiter...God has a magnifying glass, and I'm the ant" are quotes from the movie Bruce Almighty. I think that these quotes express some of our inner thoughts. However, the truth is, that we simply don't have enough faith. As long as we've been walking with Jesus, we still think that He will let us perish. Some of Jesus' very own disciples thought the same way. Mark 4:37-38 NCV says 37 A very strong wind came up on the lake. The waves came over the sides and into the boat so that it was already full of water. 38 Jesus was at the back of the boat, sleeping with his head on a cushion. His followers woke him and said, "Teacher, don't you care that we are drowning!" What kind of question is that? Didn't they know that Jesus cared for them more than His own life? In Mark 4:40 NCV, Jesus said to His followers, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Do you know that Jesus cares when you are drowning? He will not try to harm us anymore than we would try to harm our own children. God loves us. That will never change! If He leads you into a stormy situation, you better believe that He will also lead you out. The Holy Spirit will even guide you out of the storms that you lead yourself into. He promises that He will not leave you nor forsake you (*Deut 31:8 NKJV). And when the time is right, God will say, "Peace, be still!" and the wind will cease and there will be a great calm (*Mk 4:39 NKJV). Allow God to be your shelter in all aspects of life. Nothing can get by Him. Rest in His peace, and let the storm pass over you. As the wind weakens, you will be stronger. God's not picking on you, He's favoring you. Where is your faith? I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed." Mk 4:39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 2 Tim 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. |
