What's in the Box? July 20, 2005 |

On the table are two boxes. One is wrapped in tattered newspaper and is about the size of a shoe box. The other is covered in a shimmery dark blue wrapping paper with an exquisite golden bow on the top. This box is the size of a 32-inch television. Everyone is pointing and hinting for you to choose the bigger box. Whichever box you choose, you must throw the other one away. As you examine the boxes more closely you realize that each box has a note attached to it. The judge allows you to read the notes before making a choice. The tattered box reads: Phil 2:6-8 NKJV 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. The shimmery box reads: 2 Cor 4:18 NKJV While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. Which box would you choose? Now I will tell you what is in the boxes? In the tattered box is eternal life, in the shimmered box is eternal damnation. The gift of salvation did not come in a pretty box. It came through mockery, torture and death. However, eternal damnation is always presented in a form that is more appealing than salvation. It lures many into its web because it looks harmless and it is easier to follow the chants of the crowd than the voice of God. I encourage you today to step back and examine the boxes closely. Do not judge by what is seen because what is seen is temporary. Salvation is eternal. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis.
