| A Peace that Guards Feb. 16, 2005 |

Phil 4:6-7 NKJV 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made know to God; 7 and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Peace guards our hearts and minds from the terrorists the enemy sends to attack us and break us down. I've read this scripture too many times to count, as I'm sure most of you have. However, one day when I was reading this scripture it's true meaning overwhelmed me. God helped me to understand it in a brand new way. I live on a military base. When I go through the gate to get on base there are guards there who's job is to check my ID and inspection stickers before allowing me to pass. And sometimes, they are required to perform random searches. They do this to me and I live there! Imagine the precautions that are taken with those who don't have the proper passes. These guards are equipped to handle many situations that arise, but the bottom line is that very little gets past them. They carry weapons and take their jobs very seriously (as they should). This is how peace is at the gates of our hearts and minds. The peace that only God can give doesn't let much get around it. Peace inspects each thought and influence that approaches the gate, and carefully examines its credentials before allowing it to enter. We have to let the MPs (My Peace soldiers) do their job which is to keep out the spirits of anxiety and fear, or anything else that can harm or shake us up. But peace will only stand guard if we let it. We have the option to relieve it of duty. We do that by trying to handle things on our own. But when we take things to God first (vs 6) then Peace will stand on its post and we will be well-guarded and secure. Once we give our worries over to God through prayer, we are telling Him that we want His peace to take over. And the rest is up to Him! I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
