Quick Fix
Jun. 8, 2005
    Today's Topic is Quick Fix

Proverbs 20:13 NJKV Do not love sleep, lest you come to poverty; Open your eyes, and you
    will be satisfied with bread.

Why do we continue to allow things that could easily be fixed go weeks without being attended to?  A
squeaky door, a blown-out light bulb, or setting the blinking VCR clock are things that are very annoying
and could be fixed in only a few minutes.  But why don't we fix these things right away?  Are we
comfortable with them the way they are?

For example,  one day an appliance in my house began to make a loud, high pitched beeping noise
intermittently throughout the day.  I wondered why it was doing that.  After giving it a quick inspection I
realized that I had no idea what I was looking at so I gave up and let it beep.  Eventually, I didn't really
notice the beeping noise anymore because I had become so accustomed to it.  I even asked others to
ignore it.  It beeped for two months before I called a professional to inquire about the problem.  To my
embarrassment, it only needed a new battery.

Why did I allow this problem to go on for so long?  When I realized that the problem was too complicated
for me to figure out on my own, I decided to pretend it didn't exist rather than ask for help.  Then I became
desensitized and the problem was no longer urgent, instead it seemed common place.  However, when
others tried to point out the problem I had to convince them that it wasn't anything to worry about until they
    also became desensitized.

We as Christians need to examine our lives.  Is there something "beeping"?  Crying out for attention?  A
bad habit that needs to be taken care of?  Or maybe a troubled relationship?  Don't ignore the signs.  It's
"beeping"  or "blinking" for a reason.  Call God for help and He will reveal the solution.  It may just need a
    new battery.

God is our quick fix!  So don't wait any longer.  Make the call today!

I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!

    God Bless,
Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray
