John 14:15-16 KJV 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; When someone says the word "comforter", one may begin to think about a warm, thick blanket laying across their bed or put away in a closet. This type of blanket is usually large enough to cover a group of people or it could be used for just one. It provides warmth and a sense of security that makes it easier to fall asleep and it also provides comfort and shelter. Some may only use this type of comforter in the winter time and others use it all year round. But the point is that it is always there when we need it and it consistently does what we need it to do. Just like the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter that Jesus left with us after He returned to Heaven. The Holy Spirit serves many purposes one of which is to always be there for us. Jesus made sure that we would always have someone here with us who could understand what we are going through, could hold us through the night, and could guide us to the path of healing and restoration. There will be times when our lives may feel like winter-cold and lonely. But when we are going through, we can always wrap ourselves up in the security of the Holy Spirit. Not just during winter, but all year round. We don't have to go through it alone. He is our spiritual blanket and He will never fail us. He is our Comforter. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Pastor Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
