| The Cover-Up Apr. 5, 2006 |

Gen. 3:7 NIV Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Whenever we sin, it is a natural reaction to try to cover it up. That is why Adam and Eve suddenly realized that they were naked. They felt that they had something to hide. Before they had sinned, they were comfortable being completely transparent before God but when they had gone against His Word, they felt ashamed and tried to hide it. This just goes to show that people have been trying to cover up their sins for milleniums. But no amount of fig leaves can keep God from seeing what's really in our hearts. Often times, we feel like we are wearing a sign that tells everyone around us that we have done something wrong. So to make that sign less noticeable we may tell lies or make excuses. But these things only make the burden of guilt heavier upon our shoulders. We are not able to present ourselves faultless before our Lord Jehovah, so we must stop trying to cover our own sins and accept the covering that Jesus has provided for us. Jesus is the only One who can truly cover our sins. That is why He died for us. However, Jesus will not just cover them up, but He will completely wash all of our sins away. Now compare that to a bucket of fig leaves! I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
