1 Kings 19:2-4, 9 NKJV 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” 3 And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” 9 And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” There are times in our lives when we get so frustrated that we just want to run away and hide. Or we may get angry and decide to quit. Whatever the reaction, we have to stay focused on who it is that we are really working for. We are to do all things as if God Himself asked us to do them. Easier said, right. But it is true. We have to find reasons to be thankful where we are and we have to cast down the thoughts that the enemy sends our way that causes us to run or to quit. Over and over in the Bible, God tells His people to stand still or to be steadfast. So we should never give in to the temptation to run away from our responsibilities or to quit something that God has given us to do. When we do this, we will find ourselves outside of God's will. How embarrassing it would be to have the All-knowing, Almighty, Creator of the Universe ask us, "What are you doing here?" If He has to ask that question, then we are definitely not where we are suppose to be. Don't get discouraged. We must be steadfast and immovable, being assured that God sees our work and it is not in vain. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min.
