priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Normally, when people invite a guest into their home, they will take the time to clean the house so that their guest feels welcome and comfortable. It doesn't matter if that process requires washing the linen, cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping or vacuuming the floors or just a little straightening up, the host will make sure that it all gets done. Likewise, God is building us into a spiritual house so that His Holy Spirit can dwell within us. What a great responsibility that is! The King of Kings wants to live in us! What an honor! Yet, most of us, will not take the time to clean up our lives for Him to feel comfortable living with us. We continue to use cuss words, and we continue to gossip. We continue to visit those places that we know we shouldn't go. And we ignore God's word repeatedly. Please understand the message. Yes, God loves us just as we are. Yes, we are still His child after we have sinned. No, we don't need to wait to get our lives right before we give our lives over to Christ. No, we do not need to be perfect to come to Christ or to be a Christian. The message is that the Holy Spirit is a guest in the house that God is building within us. Thankfully, He understands that we are still under construction, but shouldn't we be more respectful about what we allow to enter into our spiritual house? If not for our own sake, than for His? We also have to understand that the Holy Spirit isn't the kind of house guest that will sit back with His feet up. He will gladly pitch in with both hands to help us do what we need to do. But first, we have to admit to Him that our temple needs to be straightened up. After that, we'll only need to make the mop water. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Min. Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
