| What Will Turn You? Dec. 6, 2006 |

Luke 9:61-62 NKJV And another also said, “Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
many of us would have done as she did? How many of us would have looked back? If you admitted that you would look back, don't be ashamed. A lot of other people will answer the same way. It is good for us to understand our weaknesses so that we can make steps to overcome them. That is why people perish because of lack of knowledge. If we don't take time to educate ourselves about ourselves and God, then Satan can tell us anything and we will believe him. We will be easy targets and susceptible to his cunning ways. So the real question is, "What to do about it?" In this case, we should take inventory of ourselves and acknowledge the things that we are holding a little too tightly. If there is something in our lives that would cause us to crumble if ever taken away from us then we are holding it too tight. True, people are not expendable and God does not want us to start treating them as if they are. He just wants us to realize that if He chooses to send us away from them or to take them home that He knows what is best. Looking back can sometimes cause more damage than good, even to the point of losing one's life. Jesus tells us in Luke 9:61-62, that "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” We can't walk in one direction while facing another and expect to get very far. Walking this way will cause us to spend most of our time bumping into things. So let's remember Lot's wife by keeping God's instructions continually in front of us. This will keep our emotions in check and help us not to give in to disobedience. After all, the vision is in front of us with all of God's promises attached, not behind. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Pastor Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
