Focus Power Pt. 1
Sept. 19, 2007
Today's Topic is Focus Power Pt. 1

Luke 14:30 NKJV  But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning
to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

It has always amazed me throughout scripture that in the most difficult times, Jesus never let the stress of
different situations affect him.  I believe he wants us to be the same way.  But it can only be done by the
power of focus, and our focus must be in the right place, which is on Christ.

When Christ came walking on the water, he gave Peter permission to get out of the boat to walk on the
water.  Peter while looking at Christ did what nobody else had ever done besides Christ, which was walk
on water.  Peter was well above the water as long as he focused on Christ.  When he started to pay
attention to the wind and the waves he started to sink.  The problem?  He lost focus, and put his focus on
the wind and the waves, which brought fear, and fear caused him to sink.  Jesus knew Peter lost focus,
so he came to save him.

Our life is not very different.  We have many distractions in this life such as bills, kids, marriage, child
support, demanding bosses, car repairs, sickness and sexual temptations, and these are just to name a
few.  These things can cause some of the strongest Christians to sink.

The secret to keeping our head above water?  Keep our eyes on the author and finisher of our faith:
Christ Jesus.  And if we do sink like Peter, He'll be there to rescue us no matter what. All we have to do,
is just call his name.  God bless.

I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!

    God Bless,
Minister Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray
