2 Tim 1:7 NKJV For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Many of us have read this scripture or heard it quoted numerous times throughout our lives, but how many of us really know what it means? How many of us have taken the time to study this scripture, break it apart and analyze it? Doesn't it seem a bit strange that God chose these three characteristics as weapons against fear? Well it does if we're unaware of the power that each one holds. You see, there are different types of fear but each type can be defeated by either power, love or soundness of mind. How is this possible? Well, let's start with Power. Picture this: An ant is crawling across the counter. Afraid? No, most of us wouldn't be. Why? Because we know that we have power over ants. We are like Superman against an ant. We are much stronger than them and we are certain that if we wanted to kill this ant or just simply remove it from the counter we would have no problem doing so, therefore we are not afraid. Likewise, we are to view the spirits of darkness in the same manner. God has given us power over them just like He has the ant. He has given us a two-edged sword called the Word of God that puts our enemies to flight every time. How many times has Superman been afraid? None, because he's got powers and he's not afraid to use them. Well, we've got power too which makes our enemies more afraid of us than we are of them, however the problem is that they know most of us aren't confident enough to use our power so they mock us and start to run circles around us. But no more! Because now we recognize the power that God has placed within us and we will rise up in boldness and then we will see them flee and they will never, ever look back. Why? Because Power + Love + Sound Mind = Victory over Fear These are the weapons that God has given us to fight against fear. Next week, we will discuss how Love also gives us victory over fear. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Minister Tommy & Sis. Shatika Gray |
