Ps. 62:5 NKJV My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. Patience is a word that a lot of people run from. Mostly because our society is always in a state of haste. Even my five month old seems to be in a hurry. As soon as her car seat is unbuckled she practically jumps right out. But where does all of this rushing get us? When we speed down to the intersection, just to get stopped by the stoplight, what have we accomplished? When we have to redo/undo a project that we have been working on because we are in too much of a hurry to thoroughly read the instructions, what have we gained? When we are at the end of our life and we wonder where time has gone, what moments have we missed? How many times has God spoken to us but we were too busy to notice? How many times have we made a decision on our own because we were in too much of a hurry to wait for God's answer? I know that I've been guilty of making some decisions that way. It's like saying, "God, I am faced with a decision to do this or that and I need your help in making the right one. God, 10..9..8... which decision do you think is best? 7..6..5..They're waiting on me, Lord. I need an answer right away or I will miss out on this opportunity! 4..3..God, are you there? 2...God, I need your answer! Right now, Lord! 1...I'll just choose this one. No, this is not the right way to make a decision. We hurt ourselves when we put time restraints on God. We need to follow David's example as it is illustrated in Ps. 62:5. When our soul gets anxious, we need to remind it to wait on God and be silent in the process. Stop agreeing to things too quickly. Close our mouths and listen for God's voice because if it is from Him, He will have no problem letting us know. God is who we should expect great things from. Opportunities come and go but if one comes our way and cannot wait on God to approve it then it is not an opportunity worth having. Have patience and wait on God to reveal Himself. He will show up for those who wait on Him. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Minister Tommy and Sister Shatika Gray |
