| Childlike Faith, Pt. 2: Because I Said So Mar. 25, 2009 |

a future and a hope. Is 55:8 NKJV 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. The "why" stage that children go through can be extremely frustrating. It can, well, drive a person batty to say the least. Especially when the child is asking why they can't do something that we know is harmful for them. Because we know the possible outcomes of their request, we feel justified enough in our decision that we don't feel the need to give them a reason. So out comes the dreaded phrase, "Because I said so!" "Because I said so!" probably wins the award for the-most-loved and the-most-hated phrase of all time. Loved by the sayer, hated by the hearer and revered by anyone observing. People around the world are very familiar with this timeless phrase, because it has been passed down from generation to generation. Anyone with an ounce of wisdom knows that when these words are uttered, it is time to stop asking questions. So, if we feel this confident in the decisions that we make for our own children, then why is it that we continue to question the One who created the Heavens and the Earth? Why do we feel that it is not necessary to justify ourselves to our children, but we require God to justify Himself to us? Is it possible, that God knows the outcomes of our request? Is there a remote possibility that He may know a little more about the situation than we do? Then maybe we should consider that God has been around the block a couple of times, and He knows what He is talking about. Maybe, just maybe, we should even heed His advice. So let's not drive God batty. Stop asking why, and just accept that we should obey Him because He said so. I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday!
