Most people who grew up in a "church" atmosphere are familiar with a song called Victory is Mine. This song is sung by young and old alike and has been for many generations. However, somewhere along the way the meaning of the words being sung began to fade away and no one noticed. It's like the word victory all of a sudden lost its meaning. According to Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary, victory means 1 : the overcoming of an enemy or antagonist and 2 : achievement of mastery or success in a struggle or endeavor against odds or difficulties. Victory is something that doesn't come easily. Victory is an outcome that results from perseverance and steadfastness and God says that victory is ours if we just have faith to believe! How do we gain faith? By hearing, really hearing the word of God. In the Bible, there are many times when Jesus said, "He that hath ears, let him hear." Why did he say that? Jesus obviously knew that not everyone with ears could hear. So why would he make this statement? Because he was not talking about our physical ears. He was referring to our spiritual ears. Even though there are some who cannot hear in the natural, we all can hear in the spiritual. Therefore, he was able to make this commandment and make it apply to everyone. So then, let's recap. Who has victory to overcome the world? We do! Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. How do we gain victory to overcome the world? By faith. How do we gain faith? By hearing. How do we hear? With our spiritual ears. How is that gift increased? By the hearing of the word of God which results in more faith which gives us the victory to overcome. Hallelujah! I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday! God Bless, Elder Tommy and Sister Shatika Gray |
