No matter what is given to us, someone had to pay a price for it. Even if someone gives us something for free, somebody had to purchase the item in order that we may have it. When Christ gave his life for us, he was the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may have access to the Father. Jesus had to sacrifice his life, so that we can have a relationship with the Father. For Jesus knew that becoming the ultimate sacrifice would be pleasing to his Father. For it was the Father's will that Christ die for our sins. There are many things that we have to sacrifice in order to get to the heart of God. We may have to get rid of old friends if their lifestyle does not line up with the word of God. We may have to sacrifice getting up early in order to spend time with God. We may have to sacrifice relationships with other people, just so our relationship with God can stay in right standing. God knows all about sacrifice. He knows more than what we could ever know, which is why he rewards us so diligently whenever we make such a stand, because he knows the pain that comes along with it. The way to the heart of God includes sacrifice. Not sacrifice of things that do not matter, but sacrificing anything that keeps us from putting him first.
