own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. We can learn a lot from a cartoon. For instance, I was watching cartoons with my daughter one day and there was a particular cartoon about a little girl who loves to go on adventures. She also has a companion that she never leaves without. She and her companion will walk everywhere hand-in-hand discovering life together. Similar to the way that we should walk with the Holy Spirit. We should never leave home without him. Another thing that I noticed is that before this little girl leaves on her journeys, she always consults her map to make certain of her final destination. She also has checkpoints along the way that she looks for to make sure that she is on course. How does this relate to us? We also have a map called the Bible. It is filled with instructions and ways to check ourselves to make sure that we are following the path that Jesus paved for us. The Bible is a reliable source that will always lead us to God (our final destination). So when making these comparisons, we cannot leave out the fact that this courageous young girl encounters obstacles that try to detour or disrupt her mission. She also has an adversary whom she (and my daughter) has learned to quickly rebuke, but sometimes, she doesn't see him coming. In those cases, he manages to take something from her that is pertinent to her mission. The girl then has to search to retrieve this item which postpones her arrival. However, when this happens, it is interesting to study how she responds. She continues nonetheless. She will either consult her map (the Bible), request assistance from her companion (the Holy Spirit) or a fellow sojourner (another Christian). Although, we are referring to a fictional character, it is important to note that she carries a backpack that has everything she needs for her journey. She is ready in season and out. She also sings songs that remind her of where she must go. She has a positive attitude and is fully persuaded that she will reach her destination. When she reaches a checkpoint, she and her companion celebrate but not for long. They understand that it was only a checkpoint and not the intended goal. They understand that they cannot stay at this checkpoint, they must continue in order to gain the victory. So, we can learn a lot from a cartoon. Celebrate but continue. Don't turn a checkpoint into a stopping point. God has more in store. I hope you enjoyed reading the Word of God in a new light. Have a Happy Wednesday!
