Life Comparison Series, Pt. 3: Flowers
Dec. 16, 2009
Matt 4:7 NKJV 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop.

We can learn a lot from a flower. Flowers come in many shapes and colors. Some are short and others are tall. Some are
surrounded by many leaves and others have very few. Some are wild, while others are bred. The point is that there are many
different species, but they are all threatened by the same thing: weeds.

A weed can choke even the most privileged flower.  A privileged flower being one that grows up in plant food and imported soil.  It is
watered regularly and receives the perfect combination of shelter and sunlight.  Privileged flowers are obviously loved, in contract to
weeds which are neglected.  Flowers are also admired, while weeds are despised.  Therefore, whatever the weed needs, it must
take by force from its surroundings.  Nothing is ever given to it which has transformed it into a species that only knows how to kill,
steal and destroy.  It has to disguise itself as a flower, while the whole time it is draining the life from the ones around it.

So what can we learn from this? We, as a people, are also very different. We have many different backgrounds and some are more
privileged than others. However, no matter how educated we are or how spiritual we claim to be, we can still be choked out by
weeds. We have to be mindful of the people and things that we allow in our lives, or else, we will wake up one day and find that it all
has been taken away. Satan loves to plant weeds, but it is our responsibility to snatch them up before they take root and grow.

We can learn a lot from a flower. We need to let the Holy Spirit be our gardener and weed our lives regularly.  He can spot a weed
    more than a mile away.

I hope you enjoyed reading the Word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!
