| Prize Fighter, Pt. 1 Sept. 23, 2009 |

crown, but we for an imperishable crown. 26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. When a prize fighter is interviewed before the fight and he is asked who is going to win the match, his answer is always self- motivating. According to him, he will be the winner, no doubt about it. But what about the interview after the fight? Often times, win or lose this same fighter will still proclaim himself as the winner and there is no convincing him otherwise. This is the same attitude that we ought to have in our Christian life. Before we enter into a trial, we should be already self-motivated by the word of God. God's Word tells us that we are more than conquerors and that our enemy is already defeated. So as we walk toward the ring, we should be reminded of our Holy entourage that is walking with us. With that knowledge, we are able to go into the ring with confidence, knowing that the victory is ours to claim. We can give it our all with the assurance that our punches are causing major damage to the enemy's kingdom because we have trained well in the days prior to the fight. And win or lose, we know that we are still victorious in Jesus because we are on the winning team. In other words, it may feel like sometimes we are just swinging at the air and aren't hitting anything. Sometimes it even feels like the only one getting beat up is us. But we serve a God who can heal all wounds and is always in our corner. So just remember: We may come out bruised; we may even be bleeding, but if they think we look bad, they should see the other guy! I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.
