But, He Missed!
Aug. 24, 2005

Today's Topic is But, He Missed!

Ps 87:7-9  7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in
reverence by all those around Him.  8 O LORD God of hosts, Who is mighty like You, O LORD?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.  9 You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise,
    You still them.

Have you ever stopped to think about all the times that the devil had an opportunity to kill you, but
somehow you survived?  How many car accidents have you been in or was close to being in?  What
about the time you drove through a short yellow light, or when you didn't see that car beside you?  Have
there been times when you were in a place and there was sudden gunfire?

Were there ever times as a child when you attempted a dangerous stunt and had to make a trip to the
hospital?  Many times when you've made bad decisions or been intoxicated, but the Lord still kept you.
Undergoing surgery (wisdom tooth extraction, tonsil removal, or things more serious like organ
transplants) could have also been life threatening.  And don't forget about the food at your high school
cafeteria.  Yet, somehow, here you are.

I was thinking about the sudden attack on our battleships this week.  So many men and women could
have lost their lives-but, he missed!  It could have turned out very differently-but, he missed!  There could
have been more American casualties than there already are.  More mothers burying their children.  More
husbands/wives having to bury their spouses-but, he missed!

Look back over your life and praise God for all of the times that He was in control of your life.  It was/is
God's sovereignty and faithfulness that made Satan miss!  And because he missed, we have the
opportunity to serve God and love our families with all of our hearts until God decides to call us home!

I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!

    God Bless,
