Free Gas
Aug. 20, 2008
    Today's Topic is Free Gas

Rom 15:13 NKJV Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the
    power of the Holy Spirit.

What do you suppose would happen if a gas station displayed a sign that read: TODAY ONLY-FREE GAS!  There would probably be
a 1,000 car pile-up because everybody who passed that sign would either slam on their brakes or make a U-turn so that they could
bogart their way into the gas station's parking lot.  And for those who did happen to make the turn safely, the line would be about as
long as five football fields if not more!

But wouldn't it be awesome if we all reflected this attitude toward going to church?  Let me explain.  Just like our car, our spirit
requires fuel.  The fuel that it requires is knowledge, for the Bible says in Hosea 4:6 NKJV "My people are destroyed for lack of
knowledge...."    So without knowledge our spirit is starved of important nutrients which will cause it to eventually "run out of gas".
We all know that a car without gas is useless.  Well, an empty spirit man is nothing but wasted potential and God does not like for
his talents to be wasted (See Parable of Talents-Matthew 25).

So what does this have to do with going to church?  The church is the filling station that God has provided for us so that we can
charge our battery with praise and testimonies, change our oil also know as our thoughts and attitudes, replenish our fluids of joy,
peace and love, throw away trash during the prayer and alter call, and fill up our tanks with the Word of God.  The church is a one-
stop shop where the gas (Word of God) is free but the snacks aren't, so pay those tithes and offerings and don't forget to fill up this
Sunday at a church near you!

I hope you enjoyed reading the word of God in a new light.  Have a Happy Wednesday!

    God Bless,
Minister Tommy and Sister Shatika Gray
